Othonna capensis 'Ruby Necklace' | Gardening Diary

The 'Ruby Necklace' is a trailing succulent featuring bean-shaped leaves on purple stems. Unlike many succulents, it is a fast-growing species. I had mine for lesser than a month and I can spot new growth.

This is also one of the easiest succulents in my garden. In a humid country like Singapore, succulents are prone to rotting if the roots do not dry fast enough after watering. It is easy to tell when the 'Ruby Necklace' needs water - the leaves will turn wrinkly and soft. The leaves will become firm and plump quickly after absorbing water.

I bought my lovely pot from Ban Nee Chen (Chong Pang) in a 5.5cm pot for $2.50.
