Creating my first composite
I consider myself as a proficient user of Adobe Lightroom, but I have not devoted as much effort to Photoshop (except for basic cloning). Last week, I decided to take the plunge and enter the world of digital art.
I always wanted to create a mystical scene involving elements I love, such as nature and astronomy. Here are the three images I used in my photo composite (all taken by myself):
Taken on a flight to Bali in 2016
Sunrise during my winter trip to Banff National Park in 2016
Taken during the same winter trip in Lake Louise and not edited. I was shooting remotely from my smartphone.
I cloned out the wing of the plane, extracted the mountain, parts of the bridge and myself from the three scenes to construct the image below:
I am actually really proud of how this turned out, considering that it is the first composite I have ever made. I love how airy and serene the composite is and it brings me (slightly) closer to a scene I wish existed in real life. I gathered some feedback from friends and other photographers, who agreed that it is technically sound.
I have generated some ideas for my next composite and cannot wait to implement them once the finals period is over. I like having human interest (i.e. me) in such photographs, so I guess I will have to head out with my tripod for more materials for my digital art soon!
