Sunset at Sugarloaf Mountain

This is definitely the highlight of my layover in Rio. Despite my huge mistrust of weather forecasts, I had been tracking the weather in Rio and it was predicted to be clear and sunny. Hence, catching the sunset at the Sugarloaf Mountain was my priority. I bought tickets online from http://bondinho.com.br/. The ticket costed BRL 44 (student price and additional BRL 4 for online purchases) and I was sent an e-ticket. The queue at the ticket counter was pretty short although I reached the attraction at a popular timing, thus advanced purchase of ticket is not necessary. I exchanged my e-ticket for a physical receipt at the counter.

Due to my conspicuous tripod hanging at the side of my bag, I was stopped by a staff and asked to obtain a photography permit from the office. The good news is the permit was free-of-charge and I was able to board the cable car smoothly.

There were a number of photographers camping at good spots while waiting for the sunset. I joined the party and marvelled at the breathtaking scenery as the sun began its slow descent.

Rio, you are beautiful.
